Microsoft has announced the latest lineup of games for its Xbox Game Pass in August 2023. The subscription service will welcome a bunch of exciting new titles this month, which range from 2D side-scrollers to indie games, and more. But as the Xbox Game Pass welcomes in new games, it will also be bidding farewell to a few of the existing ones.
The company had previously confirmed three new entries for the Game Pass, namely Everspace 2, Sea of Stars, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Now, the rest of the roster has officially been confirmed. So here’s a small roundup of everything that’s new in August.

What’s New?
- Celeste is a bright and colourful 2D platformer that features a pixel graphic design. You need to help Madeline fight her demons as she journeys to the top of Celeste Mountain. Uncover the mysteries of the mountain and fight your way through various challenges in this indie title. The game is already available on the Xbox Game Pass.
- A Short Hike offers you a wonderful and picturesque adventure through the wilderness. It will have you climb, soar, and hike your way across the peaceful mountainside landscape of Hawk Peak Provincial Park. You will meet other hikers and exploration brings some hidden treasures as well. This title will go live on the Game Pass on August 8.
- Broforce Forever is another side-scroller game but with a more action-packed gameplay experience. Rekindle your nostalgia for old run-and-gun shooters with this 2D game. The game also drops on August 8 and brings the awaited Broforce Forever content, which brings a new and improved campaign, six new patriotic characters, and four new levels to challenge.
- Limbo is a beautiful gorgeous title that every gamer should experience once. It is an award-winning indie adventure that drowns you in its immersive environment and unique art style. The soundtrack plays into these visuals, often adding to the foreboding feeling of the dark spaces. The haunting adventure is making its way to the Xbox Game Pass on August 9.
- Airborne Kingdom is a city builder but with a small twist; your city is floating in the skies. So get ready to establish your flying kingdom in an expansive world. The floating metropolis will aid the struggling people below, travel across varied landscapes, uncover lost secrets, and grow to a massive size. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass on August 10.

What’s Leaving?
As the Game Pass gains new titles, we must also say farewell to some notable ones. Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding will be leaving the subscription service this month. Alongside it, Edge of Eternity, Midnight Fight Express, and Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer III are also leaving the platform.
Note: You will need to have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription to access the upcoming games mentioned above. Everspace 2 will be arriving on August 10, while The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Sea of Stars will go up on August 18 and August 29 respectively.
