McAfee Enterprises, Inc., creators of WFD-World’s Fastest Drummer events, announced that it has entered into a partnership with leading game and technology developers Riseup Labs of Bangladesh. McAfee and Riseup Labs are bringing World’s Fastest Drummer gaming to the masses, starting with WFD Mobile Game featuring WFD action hero SpeedE. This mobile version is scheduled for release to both iOS and android stores on November 30, 2022.
Luckily, we at Gamellio had a chance to host a World’s Fastest Drummer game developer interview, where we got to ask many questions regarding the game’s future plan and the developer’s idea behind it, among other things. So, let’s not waste any more time and check out the interview.
Gamellio: Hello! Can you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Boo McAfee: My name is Boo McAfee. I’m the CEO of McAfee Enterprises, Inc., the driving force behind the entertainment properties WFD-World’s Fastest Drummer and action hero SpeedE.
WFD-World’s Fastest Drummer: Behind the scenes
Gamellio: To kick things off, how did the idea for World’s Fastest Drummer game first come about?
Boo McAfee: Well, we have to go back about 40 years to when I started working on the speed detection device now known as Drumometer. After 24 years or so we finally got the Drumometer built. Shortly after we started marketing the Drumometer and with the primal human instinct to hit things fast and get a quick reward an extreme sport broke out called WFD for World’s Fastest Drummer. As WFD grew it just became a natural progression to move into the gaming realm.
Developer’s expectation from WFD-World’s Fastest Drummer Game
Gamellio: World’s Fastest Drummer is releasing on mobile next month. How excited are you?
Boo McAfee: Oh my, the partnership we have with Riseup Labs of Bangladesh is so exciting and such an honor for us. The WFD mobile game featuring our action hero SpeedE is only the beginning. We wanted to start with a really good mobile version which will give us a solid foundation of collected data to build the full WFD gaming franchise. The mobile game is the beginning of what we both hope to be a long and successful partnership.
About the Gameplay
Gamellio: Can you tell us a bit about the gameplay?
Boo McAfee: The gameplay is a simple game made for everyone (even non-professional drummer and non drummers) who can show their best performance by tapping on the screen to achieve the best possible score.
Gamellio: You probably have already got the test of the game on Mobile. What did you enjoy the most about it?
Boo McAfee: Even though I have been around WFD for 22 years, I still enjoy the gameplay and competitiveness of the game. During every new turn I feel like achieving a new high score. Just trying to beat my personal high score.
Gamellio: Has the game been developed for everyone or just for people with a taste in music?
Boo McAfee: This is a great question and hits at the heart of WFD gaming. WFD the sport is a very serious, highly charged international competition with world records that take a tremendous dedication and training, for example the Battle of the Hands record is 1208 single strokes in 60 seconds. This means his hands are moving over 20 times per second for a full minute. The Battle of the Feet record is 1034 single strokes in 60 seconds, that’s over 17 single hits a second for full 60 seconds.
However, WFD Gaming is for everyone and anyone that knows their left hand from their right hand, not just drummers. WFD gaming is about fun interaction to see who is the fastest in the family, at school, in your group of friends and simply to beat your personal highest score.
Gamellio: What is the monetization method you went ahead with? Will the game be free-to-play?
Boo McAfee: The game will be free to play for everyone. However, there are in-game ads which will be the primary source of monetization. Furthermore, we are keeping in-app purchases for the players.
Future Plans
Gamellio: We heard there are plans to bring a new WFD Game to the console and Switch. Is that true?
Boo McAfee: There are future plans to bring a new WFD Game to the console and switch but that depends on the success of the upcoming mobile game.
Gamellio: Gaming has been booming in recent years, especially mobile gaming. What are your views about the growth of the mobile gaming industry?
Boo McAfee: I see gaming as the biggest source of entertainment in the upcoming years. People from all age groups, geography, and demography seem to be interested in games these days. Thus, we can conclude that the growth of the gaming industry will be booming in the upcoming years.
