The excitement surrounding the Marvel cinematic universe may have decreased in recent times, but the expansion into the gaming industry continues to thrive. Despite some initial difficulties, several prominent characters from the Marvel comics are set to receive their own game. Let’s take a closer look.

Spider-Man 2

Marvel

Launch Date: October 20th, 2023

Insomniac Games has been busy working on the highly anticipated sequel to the successful Marvel’s Spider-Man game and Miles Morales Expansion. Fans of the game can look forward to playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5 in 2023. The game features the return of previous protagonists, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who will take on a host of villains.

Wolverine

Marvel

Launch Date: Yet to be announced

Easily one of the most recognisable Marvel superheroes, Wolverine is finally getting a next-gen adaptation that will be exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation 5. Insomniac Games will be developing this game, which is the studio behind the recent Spiderman: Miles Morales on the PlayStation. Notably, this marks the first time in over a decade that Wolverine as a character will be seen in a video game again, following his last appearances on X-Men Origins: Wolverine. So needless to say, many have been waiting eagerly for the mutant to make his return. Unfortunately, a specific launch date is yet to be announced but the game is set to launch next year.

Iron Man

Marvel

Launch Date: Yet to be announced

Marvel’s Iron Man is another game that brings a beloved Marvel superhero into the role of a playable character. The title has already garnered hype since many Marvel fans have been asking for a standalone Iron Man title for years. The Iron Man game will be built on Unreal Engine 5 and developed by EA’s Motive Studio, which was also behind the recent Dead Space Remake and Star Wars Squadron. The launch date for this title hasn’t been revealed either, but an announcement with more details shouldn’t be too far off.

Black Panther

Marvel

Launch Date: Yet to be announced

EA is collaborating with Marvel for another superhero, which is Black Panther. The gaming giant’s Cliffhanger Games will be working on this game along with talents from teams behind God of War and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. This will be the first-ever game where Black Panther is the lead character, with the story revolving around his new adventure. Like Iron Man, EA is making this a single-player campaign with a third-person perspective. The date for its release is unclear, but more information should surface in the coming months.
