Ubisoft’s XDefiant
XDefiant is the French video game developer’s new free-to-play multiplayer title. It features a six versus 6 format with popular game modes often seen in shooter games. This includes modes like Domination and Escort. XDefiant features a punk aesthetic and offers various maps for players to fight in. One of its highlighting aspects is the inclusion of factions from iconic Ubisoft games like Wolves (from Ghost Recon), Echelon (Splinter Cell), Outcasts and Cleaners (from The Division), and others.

Rumored Launch Date & Call of Duty Overlap
The latest leak from @ModernWarzone on X (formerly Twitter) claims that the company plans to release XDefiant on 17 October 2023. However, this is also when Activision intends to roll out a new update for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone. It is the new Haunting event, which will kick off on the same date. If this is true, then Ubisoft is boldly clashing with the gaming industry’s giant.

The Call of Duty franchise is one of the biggest names in gaming. The military shooter has one of the most active player bases for its multiplayer. Since it’s a live service game, a fresh update typically has the game see a boost in player count. This is a major reason other gaming companies avoid competing with Call of Duty on any of its new releases or significant event updates.
