The HongKong based game development studio QI XI ENTERTAINMENT (HK) LTD has released its latest strategy card game: The King Must Die. The publishers have designed it as a multiplayer collaborative strategic delight for up to five players. It is their second attempt in this genre after the 4.9 stars-rated debut title- Game of Heroes: Three Kingdoms. Keep reading to learn more about its storyline, gameplay, game design, roles, and availability.
Storyline
The central plot of this game revolves around a King named Aerys, who was once known as a very kind and generous: Wise King. Aerys had built a vast, prosperous, and peaceful kingdom, with the citizens of his kingdom deeply satisfied with his reign.
However, this did not last very long, and the Wise King went berserk because of his insatiable greed for wealth and power. With time, his reign transformed into a terror-filled cruel, and unjust proposition for the kingdom’s citizens. All of the unsettled emotional distress and fear in the empire led to a revolution, and unknown to all original orchestrators of the events was Merchant of Fate himself.

The Gameplay of The King Must Die
It is a multiplayer game with four roles, including The King, Kingslayers, Kingsguard, and Usurper. You will get to choose any of the roles mentioned above, and the gameplay will unfold accordingly. Up to 5 players can participate in a game, therefore, there are two slots for the Kingslayer position. The overall gameplay has been kept incredibly simple yet intriguing; it involves five variables in terms of player-wise strategy and four for in-game roles.
Additionally, there are fifteen distinct characters to play with; you can choose from a wide variety of heroes with unique skills and abilities. Deploy these characters in the card battle by optimizing their compatibility with companion cards depending upon the role you have received initially.
As you progress in-game, you will get to unlock more than twenty unique cards. Each card will have distinct individual characteristics such as-
- Attack Card- deals +1 damage.
- Dodge Card- offsets the effect of attack cards.
- Barbarian Card- everyone has to play an Attack card or take +1 damage.
- Analeptic- Gives +1 damage to Attack cards or restores +1 health in near-death situations and many more.
