Scorn, a horror game developed by Ebb Software and published by Kepler Interactive, will be released on PS5 on October 3, 2023. Previously exclusive to Xbox in 2022, it was also included in the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
Scorn is a game that draws inspiration from the works of H.R. Giger, the Swiss artist known for his design of the Alien franchise. The game is set in a nightmarish world of flesh and metal, where players have to explore, solve puzzles, and fight against alien creatures. The game features a non-linear narrative, a dynamic sound design, and a unique weapon system that requires the player to use them wisely without wasting any resources.
The PS5 version of Scorn will include some exclusive features that fully leverage the console’s hardware and controller. According to Ljubomir Peklar, the game director of Ebb Software, the game will use DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to enhance the immersion and realism of the game. For example, the controller will vibrate differently depending on the sound and intensity of the situation, and each weapon will feel distinct thanks to the adaptive triggers.

“The main character in the game mostly interacts with the world with his hands. Most of these interactions are also painful for the character. That’s where haptics come into play. The imagery offered to the player’s eyes is painful by itself, but we wanted to increase this feeling by giving a sensation to the hands holding the controller. Players are also able to feel the directions of haptics (left or right hand), further adding to the experience”, read a PlayStation blog at the time of the reveal.
Moreover, the DualSense controller light bar will represent the health of the player, changing colours in appropriate situations. “It is a small addition to the otherwise very minimalistic HUD in Scorn”, said PlayStation. The PS5 version of Scorn is available for pre-order on PlayStation Store for Rs 2,499 in India or $39.99 internationally.
