Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Gaming Academy with the goal of fostering gaming communities in Southeast Asia and the Oceania region. Here are all the details.
Samsung Galaxy Gaming Academy: What’s it all about?
The South Korean tech giant wants to bring passionate gamers together in these regions. The Galaxy Gaming Academy will focus on two aspects: nurturing upcoming gaming talent and building a unique community of gamers from different backgrounds. Members of the academy will gain exclusive access to programs that involve community bonding activities, educational and training content, and even in-game rewards from local gaming partners.

Why is Samsung targeting these regions?
Samsung is launching the Galaxy Gaming Academy in these regions since gaming is an everyday part of many youths in these countries. The Samsung Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) Gaming Insight Study revealed that more than half of gamers surveyed (56%) play video games more than a few times a week. This group also included hardcore gamers as well as gaming enthusiasts who spend a significant amount of time in gaming-related activities, like watching gaming videos, discussing gaming within their communities, and keeping up with gaming news.

KM Liew, Vice President & Head of Mobile Experience (MX), Samsung Malaysia Electronics, stated that “Community lives at the heart of gaming, and at Samsung, we want to deepen our connection to our local gamer communities and industry partners that are passionate and engaged, through initiatives like Galaxy Gaming Academy.”
