On September 21, Capcom, the creator of Resident Evil 4 Remake, revealed that the game would receive a DLC update named ‘Separate Ways’. In addition to this announcement, they released a new gameplay trailer for Resident Evil 4 VR Mode and the upcoming story DLC. Furthermore, a free update for The Mercenaries mode was also announced to launch on the same date.
Separate Ways DLC update will unravel the story of Ada Wong and her parallel journey through the events of Resident Evil 4, answering the unattended questions from the main story. The full story will be revealed as the player views both sides of events from both Ada and Leon’s viewpoints.
The DLC expands on the story of Wong, the mysterious spy who assists Leon S. Kennedy in his mission to rescue the president’s daughter from a cult in rural Spain. In addition to the variety of firearms from the original game and the knife parry that players must be familiar with from Leon’s campaign in RE4, Ada will also carry a grappling gun introduced in the update. This can be used to get to various locations, take down enemies from a distance, and launch a ranged melee attack.

In addition to ‘Separate Ways’, Capcom also revealed that the free Mercenaries update for Resident Evil 4 will be available on the same day as the DLC. The Mercenaries mode is a fan-favourite feature that challenges players to survive waves of enemies in various locations from the main game while earning points and unlocking new characters and items. New playable characters Ada Wong and Albert Wesker will also join the free DLC. This update is free and will be available to everyone who owns a copy of the game.
Further, Resident Evil 4 VR Mode, which allows you to experience the entire story mode of the base game on PlayStation VR2, will be coming this winter as a free DLC update. Using the PlayStation VR2 headset, you can get a 360-degree view of the game’s elaborate stages. No concrete launch date was announced for this update.
