Fans of co-op shooter games are eagerly awaiting the launch of Payday 3, the much-anticipated sequel to one of the genre’s most beloved titles. In advance of the full release, the game’s publishers, Deep Silver and Star Breeze Studios, are offering an Open Beta for players to try out. Here is a rundown of everything you should know about this exciting new cops vs robbers game.
Payday 3: What’s the game about?
As the name suggests, its the third installment in the successful Payday franchise. Similar to its predecessors, Payday 3 also brings the exhilarating gameplay that pits players against AI enemies. The co-op shooter has you plan out and execute the perfect heists from a first-person perspective. This title will have you return to the Payday gang, taking on law enforcement and committing various crimes, ranging from robberies to terrorism. As per Starbreeze Studios’ description, “Go stealthily without anyone noticing how the cash evaporated or go loud and create cinematic chaos in an NYC robbery that’s worthy of the silver screen”.
When does the Payday 3 Open Beta begin?
Deep Silver, the publisher behind the game, will start the open beta for Payday 3 on 8th September 2023, which will run till September 11. The beta is designed to stress test the servers on Steam and Microsoft’s Xbox Series S and Series X. This early version of the game will test the game on a larger online scale ahead of its full release.

The open beta is based on the April 2023 build of the game so it won’t reflect the stability of Payday 3 on the launch date. In the beta, players will get access to just one heist, which is titled ‘No Rest For The Wicked’. This map is set in a small bank and will offer all different difficulty levels. The level cap for Infamy is set at 22, while weapon progression levels top out at 8.
Payday 3: Launch Date
Payday will be released on the Xbox Series S and Series X (including Game Pass) and PC (Via Steam, PC Game Pass, and Epic Games Store). The game will be released on 21st September 2023, and it is currently listed for pre-purchase on platforms like Steam.
