Nintendo has just announced a brand-new special edition model of its popular Switch console. The company’s latest handheld is dubbed the Nintendo Switch OLED Mario Red Edition and features a design inspired by the legendary video game character Mario. So here are all the details regarding its pricing, launch date, and more.

Nintendo Switch OLED Mario Red Edition: Design

The name is quite apt, considering the limited edition model is rather basic. Adorning Mario’s iconic bright Red colour as its primary hue but doesn’t add many details otherwise. The rear panel, the Joy-Con removable controllers, and the dock all feature the same shade, with no detailed engravings or stylized design. The only aspect that showcases its video game inspiration is the small Mario silhouette at the back.

Nintendo Switch OLED Mario Red Edition: Pricing & Availability

The new Nintendo Switch OLED version will be available for purchase starting on 6th October 2023. Despite the Mario Red Edition being a special model, it will only cost $350 and can be found on the company’s official Nintendo Store website. In other words, this variant basically costs the same as the standard Nintendo Switch OLED model.

Nintendo Switch OLED Mario Red Edition: Specifications

Apart from its pricing, the Nintendo Switch OLED Mario Red Edition features identical specs as the regular Switch OLED model. Under the hood, the handheld gaming console is equipped with the Nvidia Tegra X1 chip, which first debuted in the original Switch model back in 2017. So there are no performance gains with this one either. The front sports a 7-inch OLED display, and it houses 64GB of internal storage. Remember that this isn’t a special bundle release or a standalone hardware release. However, there is a Super Mario Bros Wonder game that will launch on October 20 for the Switch.
