And now, its reboot with Mortal Kombat 1 seeks to rekindle the fighting fantasy with improved graphics to better showcase the gory details. So for those itching to get in on the action, you can try out the upcoming game in the PlayStation beta.
Mortal Kombat 1: Beta Release & Full Launch
In an official tweet, the studio confirmed that the Mortal Kombat 1 beta for the PlayStation 5 will kick off later today (August 18). The beta kicks off at 11 AM EDT/ 10 AM CDT/ 8 AM PDT. It is worth noting that the beta is only live till the 21st of August 2023. Mortal Kombat 1 has an official release date set for September 19, with the game launching on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Series X, and Nintendo Switch.

Mortal Kombat 1: How to access the beta
While Xbox Series X and Series S owners already had access to the beta, PlayStation 5 users will now be able to participate in the beta later today. Keep in mind that only buyers that have pre-ordered the game can try out the beta build. Those that pre-ordered the game through a third-party retailer will also be provided a code for their Warner Bros. Games Account so they can join in too.
The latest Mortal Kombat game is bringing back some iconic characters like Ashrah, Havik, Sareena, and Reptile. Furthermore, a unique mechanic arriving in the game is the ‘partner characters’ that assist during matches. This includes known names like Cyrax, Darrius, Erron Black, Frost, Goro, Jax Briggs, Kano, Kung Lao, Sareena, Sektor, Sonya Blade, Stryker, and Sub-Zero.
