Lately, movies based on comic book series have been increasingly popular, especially Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU). With the announcement of an Avengers game, many expected it to be a huge success. However, only a few years after its release, Marvel’s Avengers live-service game is officially defunct.
Marvel’s Avengers Delisted
As the name suggests, the game is based on a team of iconic Marvel superheroes. Players can choose to play a couple of popular characters like Iron Man, Thor, and others. The Earth’s Mightiest Heroes face a new threat and must band together to defeat the new evil. While the premise sounds promising and is similar to the Marvel movies, the transition to gameplay wasn’t as exhilarating. To date, the reviews on Steam (a digital video game store) still show “Mixed,” which means many didn’t find this title enjoyable.

The game that was developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos performed below expectations. Now, Marvel’s Avengers has officially been delisted. This means that you can no longer purchase this title from proper channels. For a live-service game, its lifespan of just three years was relatively short. If you already own this game, you can still play with friends. However, official support has also ended, so any existing issues will likely not be addressed in the future.

Furthermore, the game being delisted also implies that no content update is planned either, which means that no fresh events will be arriving. Just before Crystal Dynamics pulled the plug, Marvel’s Avengers went on a 90% discount, and all of its existing DLCs (Downloadable Content) were offered for free. It is now more like a single-player game than a live service title as development has reached its end.
