Lenovo is expanding into gaming consoles and AR technology. Rumours suggest they are developing AR glasses to pair with the upcoming Legion Go handheld gaming device.
Lenovo AR Glasses and more are on the way
According to WindowsReport, sources close to the matter have revealed that the brand is working on several new products. One of these is a pair of AR glasses that are designed specifically for gaming and will likely be paired with the Legion Go handheld gaming console. For those unaware, Lenovo’s Legion Go was recently spotted in leaked renders, which showcased a Nintendo Switch-like design with removable joy-con-like controllers.

It is also expected to rival other handheld gaming consoles like the ASUS ROG Ally and the Steam Deck. While a specific launch date for the console and the AR glasses is still unavailable, Lenovo is rumoured to announce both of these at the IFA 2023. The AR glasses are expected to feature a compact design that will make them comfortable to wear during long gaming sessions. It is worth noting that this isn’t the company’s first venture into Augmented Reality, as it showcased the ThinkReality A3 during MWC 2023.

This model was also a pair of AR glasses designed for enterprises and equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR1 chipset. Since the Legion Go may feature removable controllers, these might feature sensors that make them perfect for AR-based games. These could double as the controller that arrives with VR/AR headsets. Apparently, the glasses might also be suitable for everyday use as well, although it is unknown if they will offer any additional functionality outside of gaming. So stick around for more updates.
