Earlier this week, it was announced that the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann anime series is getting a new video game adaptation. This new title will be a mobile game, so here’s when it will be released.

Gurren Lagann

Gurren Lagann is set in a fictional future where the Spiral King, Lordgenome, rules Earth. The tyrannical ruler forces humanity to live in isolated villages underground. The plot follows two teenagers, Simon and Kamina, who embark on a journey to reach and explore the surface. This anime was released in 2007 and quickly became immensely popular for its colourful character design, great animation with a unique art style, and mechas (giant fighting robots).

When does the Gurren Lagann mobile game launch?

The official announcement says the upcoming mobile game will be released on 12th October 2023. Pre-registration for the title is already live, and the Gurren Lagann mobile game will be released for both iOS and Android platforms. The announcement was shared on the game’s official Facebook account, which KLab, Wanda Cinema Games, and Aniplex are developing. Based on the official notes, it is a mobile gacha game that will be released globally in markets with a dedicated English version.

Aniplex also teased that the Gurren Lagann mobile game will also include collaborations with another Aniplex anime. Details regarding this collaboration are still unclear, but more information will be revealed soon. The company has confirmed that the new game will feature the return of key characters from the original Gurren Lagann anime series. It is also worth noting that it is the first video game adaptation based on the franchise, so fans hope it is faithful to the source material.
