The upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI is generating a lot of excitement and is expected to be a major event in the gaming industry. However, recent leaks suggest that the game’s large file size and extensive gameplay content also justify its reputation as one of the biggest launches in gaming history.
Grand Theft Auto VI
GTA 6 is the latest instalment in the massively popular Grand Theft Auto franchise. Following a major leak last year, fans of the series finally got a confirmation that Rockstar is working on a GTA V successor. The upcoming title is an open-world game that will be set in a Miami-inspired location of Vice City, along with some other playable areas (including regions in South America). Grand Theft Auto VI will feature two playable protagonists (named Jason and Lucia), which are inspired by the crime duo Bonnie and Clyde. The overall plot is still unknown, but the scale of the game is rumoured to be bigger than ever before.

GTA 6: File Size and Play Time
According to ‘GTA 6 News’ on X, the sixth numbered entry in the franchise will feature a mind-boggling file size of 750GB. Games that cross the 100GB mark are already considered large, so a title that may take up to three-quarters of a terabyte is ridiculous. 512GB of storage is still the standard for many thin-and-light notebooks, while the Xbox Series X has an internal hard drive of 1TB SSD. So, calling the game massive is clearly an understatement.

Apart from its file size, Grand Theft Auto VI will even offer around 400 hours of gameplay. Keep in mind that this doesn’t mean that you need to play the game for hundreds of hours to get the full experience of the narrative. Rather, 400 hours would be to see quite literally everything in the game. Games made by Rockstar typically feature a massive scale rich with tiny details, side quests, and subplots. So this isn’t too surprising. But if the rumours regarding the file size are true, many gamers across PC and consoles might need to remove just about every other game on their system just for this one title.
