Garena is all set to launch a new Free Fire battle royale game that is exclusive to the Indian market. The mobile game is called Free Fire India and will take the place of the original Free Fire game that was banned in the region previously.
What Happened to the Original Free Fire?
For those unaware, Free Fire was banned by the Indian government back in February 2022 alongside 53 other mobile apps due to security concerns. Similar to how BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) is an India-exclusive version of PUBG Mobile, Free Fire India is a region-specific version of Free Fire. This build of the battle royale game will come with special content and changes to meet government-mandated safety measures.

Free Fire India: When Does it Launch?
Garena’s Free Fire India will be available for download in India starting on 5 September 2023. The mobile game can be found on the Google Play Store for Android devices and the Apple App Store for iOS models. The Singaporean gaming publisher will launch this game version with exclusive content and guarantee data security and player safety. For this, it has collaborated with local cloud hosting and storage infrastructure providers to ensure that the data of its Indian players stays on local servers.

The company brought in known Indian sports icons like known cricketer MS Dhoni, footballer Sunil Chhetri, badminton star Saina Nehwal, and others to promote the game and its upcoming esports league. The FFIC league starts soon and will allow teams from India to compete against one another to offer them a chance to present their country at the Free Fire World Series in Thailand this November.
