It’s no secret that Fortnite is a huge success for Epic Games. The game’s whimsical art style and thrilling battle royale gameplay made it an instant hit when it was released in 2017. Recently, it was announced that Epic is working on a new survival game set in the same universe. Let’s take a closer look.
What we know about Fortnite’s Open World Survival spin-off
The information on Epic Games’ next open-world project arrives from a LinkedIn post. On the platform, the gaming publisher revealed that it is working on UI Programmer Interns. The job description reads that Epic Games is looking for “dynamic interns”. These new hires will join the company by 2024. But the most notable aspect of this job listing is that these interns will likely be assigned to Fortnite, Unreal, or any other games the company is working on, including “challenging projects throughout the work term.”

It adds that Epic Games is looking for a “smart, creative UI programmer” who will be working on projects that are related to the Fortnite Universe. The interns are expected to help build a new experience in the Fortnite Ecosystem. The next project in line will be “an open-world survival crafting game within a physics sandbox.” This has Fortnite fans believing that Epic Games is expanding the Fortnite experience in a brand-new direction.

Fortnite: Save the World
The open-world survival nature comes with a feeling of Deja Vu. The new title sounds a bit similar to the Fortnite: Save the World game mode. For those unaware, Fortnite’s success began with the free-to-play battle royale mode, but the game initially launched with just Save the World paid mode. It is a third-person tower defence survival game, which includes cooperative elements as gamers fight against the environment and AI enemies.
