Cricket League Review

Share Story:

Cricket League is a mobile game developed and released by Miniclip. Like other games from Miniclip, such as 8 Ball Pool, Cricket League uses a similar UI design and concept.

The game’s objective is simple: score more runs than your opponents, but since the game is almost entirely online and competitive, this is much easier said than done. Nevertheless, the Cricket League has done an incredible job at incorporating the rules of cricket and packaging it in a very concise and simple form for players to enjoy.

Cricket League has displayed a lot of potentials but had some very blatant defects in the game. So let’s discuss the good and the bad this game has to offer!

THE GOOD

Simple

Cricket League follows straightforward and easy-to-understand controls. The game’s objective is pretty direct; you have to score more runs than your opponents in one over. Gameplay is extremely realistic and relies on timing and positioning; this was a addictive aspect of the game. Too much happening on the screen usually makes games unappealing, especially when the game is meant to be a passtime. Cricket League does an exceptional job of keeping the game simple and addictive.

Cricket League Gameplay

Online Multiplayer

Playing a sport game against AI is usually boring and gets old quickly, but Cricket League is different. Being an online multiplayer game featuring a leaderboard and a rank for the players motivates users to aim for higher scores and wins. As you progress in the game and level up, you can play in more competitive queues with higher stakes.

Being a game developed by Miniclip, developers of 8 Ball Pool, it’s no surprise to see the execution of the game being so successful.

Cricket League Online Multiplayer

Variety of Techniques

The most surprising aspect of the game made it strategic in nature: each team player had a unique playstyle. For example, certain ballers are left-handed and have unique throwing styles and techniques that can be utilized to win games. Even batsmen had certain traits and styles that would help counter different types of balling. This made making your roster more enjoyable because you had to think about possible counters to the opponent’s lineup.

Cricket League Techniques

Iconic Pitches

The coolest and the most refreshing aspect of Cricket League was the usage of iconic cricket pitches where ODIs and T20 matches were played. Players can unlock different pitches by levelling up, but the entry fee also increases as you progress to newer and newer pitches. As you climb higher onto the cricket pitches, there are higher risks and rewards. Cricket League features pitches from Mumbai, Adelaide, Karachi, Dubai, Johannesburg, Dhaka, Melbourne, and London.

THE BAD

Pay To Win

Like many other sports games, Cricket League is extremely expensive to win and it doesn’t affect players who enjoy the game casually. Still, for those who play Cricket League competitively and intend to climb the ranks, it’s not a fun experience. Players are forced to buy gems to open packs and buy rare players from the shop; otherwise, it’s extremely hard to land strong ballers and batsmen.

Cricket League Pay to Win

Cheaters

One of the biggest downsides of the game is the rampant amount of cheaters in the high-stakes lobbies. In some of the games we played, the opponents seemed to hit only sixes and couldn’t get out. In the lower lobbies, the game is extremely fun, but as you progress to more and more expensive ranks, you start to lose in some of the most infuriating manners that are out of your control.

Certain cheaters can crash the game, which causes you to get kicked out of the lobbies, and the cheater gets the money without even playing the game properly.

Conclusion

Overall the rating that we give Cricket League based on the good and the bad mentioned above is a solid 5/10.

This score is solely because of how unplayable and unfair this game is in higher lobbies. Fundamentally, Cricket League is an entertaining game to pass your time with and can even scratch your competition. The downside is that although the game promotes pay-to-win behaviour, being unable to win due to cheaters in your lobbies defeats the purpose of spending on the game.

However, it is important to note that Miniclip is trying to tackle the cheating problem by actively blocking accounts using cheats and allowing players to report accounts they think are cheating. So, if you are interested in playing fun cricket games, try Cricket League.

Cricket League is available to download on Google Play and the App Store.
