Google has announced a new perk for Chromebook users: a free, three-month subscription to Nvidia GeForce Now cloud gaming service. This offer is available for all Chromebooks released in 2017 or later, and does not require any credit card information from the user.
GeForce Now is a cloud gaming platform that lets users play games on Nvidia’s servers without needing a powerful PC. It works similar to how Amazon Luna and Xbox Cloud Gaming do. With GeForce Now, users can access their existing game libraries from digital stores like Steam and enjoy HD graphics and performance. GeForce Now has three tiers of membership: Free, Priority, and Ultimate.
The perk gives Chromebook owners access to the Priority tier, which otherwise costs $10 (approx Rs 826) per month. With the Priority tier subscription, members can play games at up to 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second, with ray tracing enabled on supported titles. They also get priority access to the servers and can play for up to six hours in one go.
For those with a Gaming Chromebook, Google is making the deal even sweeter for them, giving a free, three-month subscription to the Ultimate tier, which usually costs $20 (approx Rs 1,600) per month. Ultimate subscription offers upgraded limits to the Priority tier, where users can play games at up to 1440p resolution and 120 frames per second, with exclusive access to the RTX 4080 servers. They also get longer session lengths of up to eight hours.
