It’s not uncommon for Call of Duty to team up with other franchises to introduce well-known fictional characters in their latest games. With the upcoming Season 6 update, it has been revealed that the next addition to the roster will be none other than the superhero character Spawn. This means fans can look forward to seeing Spawn in action soon.
Who is Spawn?
Spawn is a superhero character that Todd McFarlane created. He is a popular fictional anti-hero who appears in his monthly comic book series, making it a franchise independent from giants like Marvel and DC. Spawn was more of a cult hit in its early days but is slowly breaking into popular media in recent years, with an upcoming movie set to launch soon. Spawn is a superhero from Hell and was originally a man called Albert Simmons. After his death, he made a deal with a demonic being to gain supernatural powers. Although, it’s unclear if any of these powers will be reflected in the gameplay.
Call of Duty Season 6 Update
Activision is gearing up to roll out the Season 6 update on 27 September 2023. In recent years, the Call of Duty franchise has seen many interesting crossovers, from robots to zombies. Some of the more notable collaborations include characters from Scream, Die Hard, Rambo, The Terminator, and even King Kong. Now, Spawn is entering the battlefield in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone.
It is also worth noting that this is the first time a licensed character has appeared on the artwork for a new Season of Call of Duty. So, seeing his interaction as a character in-game will be interesting. The Season 6 update will be the last seasonal patch of Modern Warfare 2, as the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launch is set for 10 November 2023.
