Activision is following in Fortnite’s footsteps for the reveal of its highly anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The upcoming title will be first unveiled during a special playable event in Call of Duty: Warzone 2, similar to how Fortnite teases new seasons and hosts live events in-game. So here are all the details so you too can experience Modern Warfare 3.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in Warzone 2: When does it go live?
Rather than simply releasing a trailer and releasing the game, Activision has decided to make the announcement more interactive. It takes a page from Fortnite’s playbook to achieve this, similar to what it did with the Godzilla vs Kong event. But now, the studio is taking things further by including a new mainline Call of Duty entry in Warzone. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will get revealed later today (August 17) during a special event in Warzone 2.

The event is dubbed Shadow Siege and will likely have ties to the main storyline of the upcoming game. Unfortunately, finer details regarding this special event are still at large, but some leaks revealed the use of gas canisters. These were originally for a terrorist attack across Europe in the original Modern Warfare 3. So, they likely have a direct relation to the overall plot. Based on how Activision handled previous events, we can expect the first trailer for the new COD: MW3 to play at the end of this event.
