Amnesia: The Bunker, the horror game from Frictional Games, is getting a spooky Halloween update this October that the Xbox Game Pass subscribers should treat as a major one. The update will add a new mode, features, and enhancements to the game, set in a WW1 bunker infested by a terrifying creature.
The new Shell Shocked mode teaser was shared by Frictional Games Creative Lead Fredrik Olsson through a post on X. The new mode is set to increase the difficulty and realism of the game, making the player more vulnerable and the monster more aggressive. The mode will disable the HUD, inventory, and map. Further, it will turn off the pause function while the inventory is open, making the game more difficult for the players. The mode will be optional and can be toggled on and off anytime.
Olsson has teased six new features of the upcoming October update for Amnesia: The Bunker. So far, he has teased that the new difficulty will also make some of the doors throughout the game into wooden ones, including the entrance to the administration office. These doors were earlier indestructible inside the game.

Furthermore, this feature will introduce new and randomised locations of corpses, dog tags and bunker rats for a more immersive and unique experience. Then, when you begin the game, your gun would be stowed away in one of the lockers to make things more difficult. In addition, the update will force players to make noise inside the game by breaking boxes, as it would reward them with random prizes. Considering how difficult this mode will be, you would need those rewards to stay alive.
There would still be a small room in the Shell Shocked mode where the creature couldn’t enter so players could take a little break. The custom difficulty mode will also be available, wherein the extra challenges of the Shell Shocked mode will be available as adjustable options. Lastly, Olsson confirmed that the patch will also introduce several new achievements, including the one you’ll get after beating the Shell Shocked mode.
